The Power of iWeb

As you may have seen by looking at the new main page of mohoyt.com I have been busy using iWeb, luckily it makes html a hell of a lot better than Pages (which really was a joke at web stuff). The rotation and reflections are damn coooooooool.

See, I am showing the coolness of the Macworld products just by using them…

Bahhhhhh

The Dual Core Intel iMac is nice, as I have one. If you want to hear more, wait.

Meanwhile Radiohead Online Store

A quote to live by…

Here’s a quote to live by, for all useless souls wondering what to do and when to do it etc…

If you don’t have [place a suitable word here], then don’t think about it, that way you’ll save pointless dreaming.

That probably doesn’t make any sense, so that’s too bad. It does sound similar to Bill Bailey’s quote:-

The day after tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life, then you’ll always have a few days in hand.

Now that’s probably better and it makes more sense…

Enough of this thinking business, one needs to have fun in life. It’s short enough as it is, so why wait for things to come to you, go out and buy some good music before no more appears.
My recommendations for today include-

Radiohead (any of their albums, as they are all so damn good. Although for the casual listener you may prefer Pablo Honey (just a solid Rock album, but immense for a debut), The Bends (a beautifully crafted piece of work that just doesn’t get boring) or OK Computer (without a doubt, one of the best albums of the 20th century). Listening to these will stand you in good stead for approaching the other albums, as they get progressively stranger as you go along.
Tommy, by the Who. The immense rock album come rock opera, come film. Good tunes, easy to like and sound better the more you hear them.

That’s some of the stuff I’ve really been into recently, there’s loads more, but do I really have time for all of this…

Those thoughts of mine on Macworld will be coming soon, just you wait.

Yes, I know there’s been a Macworld, I’m just busy

The title kinda gives it away

I like the products, so much in fact I am going to purchase a new iMac, so tell all ’bout that later.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t visited StarfishExtravaganza.com do so and listen to our song!

Mistake… damn I’m stupid!

Forgive me for saying that the Macworld Keynote address was in two days, because actually when i wrote that, it was in 3 days time. So now I’m incredibly gutted that it is not today that all of Apple’s cool new products will be released upon the world. I even had my hopes up and all…

I spose I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow…

Meanwhile, Adobe, tired of being left behind in Apple’s trail of photographic program dust (I’m speaking about Aperture here) has released their rival to the program, Lightroom. From first looks, it seems to be incredibly similar to Aperture, and the system requirements aren’t too bad either. You’d even be able to run it on a Powerbook G4! Currently the public beta is well… publically available at Adobe’s website, which I shall be trying out soon. Reading some quick comparisons, it seems that this new piece of software isn’t bad at all, maybe even a worthy competitor to Aperture (in its currently unchallenged market). Completely written in Cocoa, which is nice and fast, and written up from the ground, so no old bit of apps in there. Some minor quiffles that I have heard of include no CoreImage support, so it won’t be taking advantage of the powerful features of CoreImage that Aperture natively has, it also has no amazingly groundbreaking (using that word very loosely here) features, such as Aperture’s lightbox… Also, you may like to know that this is an Apple only program at the moment, and this clearly shows where the market is for proper photographic software… not with Windows.

I’ll be checking it out soon, so will try and keep all posted.

MWSF 2006… I really can’t wait!

Only 2 days to go until Apple unveils its new products at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco and I am so excited.

Up until now, I completely forgot that every year, coinciding with the Macworld is the release of a new iLife, this year being iLife ‘06 (surprise surprise!). And what will Steve Jobs have in store for us this year with the new iLife… Some mistakes on the Apple site (Screenshot) have revealed that therer is a new addition to the iLife suite, iWeb. This will most probably be a web authoring tool, similar to Dreamweaver or possibly Rapidweaver which will incorporate all of Apple’s trademark simplicity, its integration with the rest of the iLife suite and power to do professional things in a consumer orientated program… It may even be similar to Pages, Apple’s 2005 offering to the world. The only problem that Pages had was that the HTML export feature was incredibly dire, it didn’t take into account all of the separate layers and layout of the document, pretty much the document’s foundation, which therefore made that feature next to useless. Hopefully iWeb will build on this and be an app that has the flexibility and simplicity of Pages yet has the power of Dreamweaver. Expect .Mac and iLife integration for sure and any other magical things Apple will throw in.

If you read carefully the text on the above linked Screenshot, you will notice that it mentions adding video to GarageBand, thus making it a better tool for video podcasting (if that so suits you) and film script composing. Over the last few years, GarageBand has been adding new features more akin to pro applications, such as multi-track recording and music on staves in 2005 and now in 2006, video integration, which is already part of Logic and Soundtrack.

Most probably, hardware will be realeased too at the Expo, this will hopefully include widescreen Intel iBooks, something we’ve all been waiting for, and possibly a media centre Mac mini, also powered by Intel, with the new Viiv technology. Expect also a completely “out-of-the-blue” release such as a Airport Express video streamer or an iPhone!

It will be good, and the wait for it will always be worth it!

Back to School so soon…

Back to school tomorrow, which is slightly too early, seeing as its not Epiphany yet! (although I wouldn’t really call it a holiday) And seeing as I have many exams this year, I’m not particularly looking forward to it…

iMac’s running smooth as can be, I highly recommend getting one.

My phone’s buggered though. The battery on it has enlarged and now does not fit into the phone, which is very annoying seeing as I have to fork out money to get a new battery for I phone I don’t really like anymore (it’s a SE P800 by the way, and way too large for my liking).

That’s probably all for now, I have the plan for the Starfish Extravaganza album, Asteroidea, which is looking very nice… so i’ll be working on that.

Updates of other websites…

I hope all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and are now finally relaxed after the last taxing year!

I spent a while changing StarfishExtravaganza.com, my band’s website, especially the main page and the flash section, so go have a look now, and listen to the new song we recorded - Down On Me. Actually, why not have a listen to the music player right here.

Macworld in San Francisco is just coming up, so I’m looking forward to it a lot, there has to be some kind of Intel machine coming out, be it a Mac mini or an iBook. I also have the suspicion that Apple may release a completely new piece of hardware, which will remain to be seen…

On other notes, Wordpress 2.0 is out, so I may be upgrading to it, so notice some (hopefully nice or aesthetic) changes.

That’s all…
