Just slightly Annoyed….

Just found out that the Aperture 1.1 update which included Universal Binary support has now had its release pushed back to April!!!! Hopefully it will be right at the start of April as I really can’t be bothered waiting any more, thinking that it was originally March.

Finally the school holidays have arrived, so I shall be relaxing… ;-) or maybe not as I have exams coming up that I should really be revising for!

A Quick Trip Away

Went for a long weekend holiday/school trip to Geneva (in Switzerland for those who don’t know where it is) to see the partical accelerator at CERN (Centre European Research Nuclear). Gave me a great chance to really try out my EOS 350D, see what it can do and realise why it was worth the £500 that was spent on it. Verdict:- absolutely immense, the pictures are incredibly sharp at 8MP and the speed at which it can take them is astounding. Using a regular digital camera and waiting for the (slow) electronic autofocus and other things to kick in to make the picture you take look reasonable is pretty much unbearble now as the EOS manages to do it in no time at all and produce better pictures as a result! The weather was also damn nice there at this time of year, comparable to Summer in Scotland, so there was better light which resulted in better pics, so have a look at some of them below…

Bear in mind though that these photos are small not as a result of poor photography but to make it easier for folks with not so good connections to see them. Enjoy…

Still waiting for Aperture 1.1 to be released so I can get it for the Intel iMac, Apple have 4 days and 30 mins in which to release it. May even be released in early April with this (supposed) 30th anniversary event.

A change of theme…

As you may see looking around the blog section of the site, the theme has changed… the theme is all made by me, but taking inspiration from other sites and help from other themes (you know with the layout and stuff). It isn’t really finished yet though, the comments box still doesn’t fit in and the images aren’t the best, but apart from that I think it looks interesting.

The guestbook that I have on the site was created using WP, downloading a page template from www.geeksmakemehot.com and then editing it to fit in with my theme.

Other interesting things include an immense article on wilshipley.com about using a ‘Microsoft Enhanced’ DVR. Absolutely hilarious so I recommend that you go and check it out!

Some Changes…

Finally got round to upgrading to WP 2, and so far the change is well worth it! The admin panel (is that what you call it?) looks greatly nicer and much more refined, so if anyone (still) hasn’t, I would encourage you to do so…

Along with this new version of WP, I have decided to change my theme. This time, instead of just editing someones pre-made template to make it nice enough for me, I will built this one up myself, taking inspiration from certain places. So far, its ready to be released upon the world, the only thing is that the sidebar is not aligning correctly. It just ends up at the bottom of the page, after all of the posts, when it should really be beside them. Its just some small (I hope) CSS thing that I have overlooked, but meanwhile, it will just have to be this edited Pool theme…

not much recently

well the title says it all… not much

Have rediscovered Blood Sugar Sex Magik, amazing Funk/Hip-Hop/Rock album from the Chilis. Well worth a listen if you haven’t already. The bass and drums on the offbeat or slightly different timing combined with the Funk guitar and the rap-like vocals make it amazing!

Anyway….. rumours are already appearing for this possible 30th anniversary Apple event. Personally I quite like the Black 30th Anniversary iMac one!

Intel Mac mini

This new Intel Mac mini, is apparently slower at UT 2004, that’s a bit poor isn’t it? At least it can play 1080i HD movie clips and have the water droplet animation on the Dashboard.

Well I Kinda Guessed Right…

I was almost right predicting the ‘Fun’ event products…

That new iPod sound dock looks damn powerful, shame about the price…. but if it is a replacement for a Hi-Fi, then its proabably worth it. At £250 its the same price as the Bose SoundDock, so it shall be directly competing with it methinks. I wonder whether the Apple one is better as Bose do make amazing products, well they specialise in speakers, so it is quite unlikely that Apple’s offering will be better. More powerful maybe, but not better…

The Intel Mac mini is a well needed upgrade, finally using a processor that is not already dated. The Intel Core Solo also makes its debut appearence in a Mac. Front Row is included which is also nice, aswell as 5.1 sound output, which really was needed if it was to be a media centre… What’s up with the graphics though… definitely gone for a cheap option here with the Intel built in graphics card, and only a 64Mb at that!!!!!

That new iPod leather case is goooooooood, but it better be made of good quality leather if it is to be worth 69 of my precious pounds…
